Hosted by the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration, MOEA, the Women’s Entrepreneurship Elite Competition has entered its 13th year. This year saw enthusiastic participation, with over 300 companies competing for recognition as outstanding women-led enterprises. Graminton’s founder and general manager, Zhao Minzu, stood out amid fierce competition and was awarded first place in the Outstanding Business Management category. The judging panel commented insightfully: “With excellent leadership and highly innovative energy, focusing on material innovation, expanding into diverse markets, promoting digital transformation and brand management, [she] successfully led the company from OEM manufacturing to its own brand and achieved a business leap from B2B to B2C; the performance of the business team has been outstanding.” They praised her exceptional performance in the fields of biotech contract manufacturing and non-woven fabric applications.
Anticipating Market Demand: Biotech R&D, Proprietary Branding, and Sustainability
Graminton was founded in 1992 during the early stages of Taiwan’s non-woven fabric industry, taking root just as Taiwan’s economy was taking off and the manufacturing and electronics sectors were booming, while consumer awareness was on the rise. Leveraging her financial background and market insight, Zhao Minzu, together with co-founders, established Graminton to seize emerging opportunities. Adhering to the management philosophy of “quality, integrity, mutual benefit, and sustainability,” Zhao is committed to solving customer needs by integrating non-woven fabric production with biotech research and development capabilities. Coupled with highly customized post-production technology and equipment, Graminton has positioned itself strategically on the international stage. While developing its biotech contract manufacturing capabilities, Graminton also embarked on a transformation from OEM production to developing proprietary brands. Today, its brand products account for 70% of total revenue, and its average sales growth over the past three years has exceeded 10%, establishing a successful model of brand transformation in the contract manufacturing industry.
Furthermore, Graminton’s achievements in sustainable operations are equally impressive. As of 2024, 88% of its new products possess biodegradable, recyclable, or reusable characteristics, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental protection. In addition, Graminton is actively driving digital transformation by integrating AI technologies with e-commerce platforms to operate dual B2B and B2C channels, further enhancing its market competitiveness.
From R&D to Production – Graminton’s Leading “One-Stop” Biotech Cosmetics OEM and Strong Global Diversification
Leveraging its expertise in non-woven fabrics and biotechnology, Graminton has successfully developed a facial mask material suitable for the Asian market and has become a partner for several international brands. Since establishing its Beauty Biotechnology division in 2002, Graminton has been dedicated to contract manufacturing of beauty biotech products, including facial masks, cleansing, and skin care products. It once achieved the remarkable production record of 360 million mask sheets in one year. Anticipating growing market demand, Graminton introduced a fully automated, hands-free one-stop mask production system from Japan. By combining its non-woven fabric technology with biotech expertise, Graminton provides an integrated one-stop service for mask development and production, making “biotech cosmetics OEM” an important pillar of the company’s revenue growth.
Graminton offers a diverse range of products committed to satisfying the needs of professionals across commercial and household use, industrial cleaning, beauty salons, medical care, infant care, biotech OEM, and daily living. The company has obtained international certifications such as ISO 13485 and ISO 22716, and has successfully expanded into markets in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. In 2024, Graminton collaborated with Lenzing Group, a world-renowned fiber manufacturer, to jointly launch baby towels and beauty masks that are 100% naturally biodegradable, further solidifying its global leadership position.
Sustainability and Mutual Prosperity: Graminton’s Future Vision
Zhao Minzu has also led Graminton in proposing a vision of “sustainable mutual prosperity,” aiming for Graminton to become a sustainable enterprise that contributes to global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) efforts by establishing more international presence and expanding the brand’s influence. Zhao stated that Graminton will continue to deepen its involvement in biotech OEM and non-woven fabric applications, combine innovative technologies to develop more eco-friendly products, and strengthen its commitment to social welfare. Graminton’s corporate mission, “innovative material development and application, creating a sustainable and fulfilling life,” is not only a guide for the company’s operations but also a commitment to the future environment and society. Zhao also hopes that, through the platform of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Elite Competition, she can inspire more women to pursue entrepreneurship and utilize qualities of attention to detail, empathy, and patience to create greater value for enterprises and society.
“Change Your Mind, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Path”: Encouragement to Women Entrepreneurs
For women who also aspire to start their own businesses, Zhao believes that building a support system in the entrepreneurial process, bravely seeking out resources and opportunities, continuing to learn and improve oneself, and trusting professional expertise and the power of teamwork are key factors for success. Women entrepreneurs must find balance between career and family, and the mantra “change your mind, change your thoughts, change your path” serves as an important guiding principle. Understanding how to enjoy the sense of accomplishment from one’s roles while shouldering responsibilities is not an easy journey. Zhao’s achievement not only inspires more female entrepreneurs to bravely pursue their dreams, but also highlights the unique value and influence of women in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
